“I learned more in Mary
Lynn's two-hour Quick & Easy Plotting than I learned in all the other
conference sessions combined.”
--Mike Phillips, Franktown, CO
“I’ve been in education
for almost 30 years and have never seen a presentation better
organized and presented. The genuine concern you two had for students
clearly shows through, both in the workshop and in Every Page Perfect.”

Steve Wright,
El Paso, TX
“I’m coming back for
more. Already signed up for another.”

Are you still hiding your manuscript in the back of your
underwear drawer?
How to Get Paid for Your Writing and Keep More of
Your Money! |
|
Let's face it:
Most Talented writers
Don't realize the value of their work (or how close to
publication they really are)
Don't want to admit they actually string words together -- and
they enjoy the process.
Have suffered through critique groups that shattered their egos
(and demand only positive learning experiences from now on).
And they have day jobs and families -- so they give up on
their dream.
The good news is:
Your writing dreams can stay alive.

Are you...
Tired of sitting through hours of lecture on writing theory when
you'd like to cut to the chase and start writing for money?
Ready to toss your word processor across your latest Critique
Group because you need constructive, helpful direction -- not a
majority vote?
Eager to transform your novel idea into a story that agents will
fight over ?
Frustrated with sending large sums of your hard-earned money to
tax collectors and looking for easy, legal ways to keep more of
your earnings?
Getting discouraged because your writing still feels like a
hobby and you know you've got the ability to be a paid
professional - if you only knew where to start?
Bogged down in a day job and want to meet some real live
writers?
Tearing up a first draft that you want to take to the next level
so you'll get taken seriously by the New York publishing world?
Suspecting everyone but you knows the secrets of getting published -
like how to send a manuscript to an editor who wants agented
work only?
|
|
|
|
Mary Lynn and Ted Lynn team up to offer hands-on workshops that
can get your writing out of the underwear drawer - and on its way to an
agent's desk. |

Mary and Ted can
help you...
Dust
off your manuscript and begin to think professionally.
Recognize when you have a marketable
idea for a short story,
article, nonfiction book -- or even a best-selling novel.
Most
of all, remember why you did this: because writing is FUN!
Forget the 3 F's:
Mary and Ted don't waste time on fluff, frills and feel-good
exercises.
You'll get professional feedback from them -- not from fellow
students who know less than you.
You'll get how-to exercises from the very first minute - like
how to plot your mystery, scene by scene.
You'll get
examples you won't find anywhere else - like what you can learn
from movies, television and popular fiction.
|
|
|
|
Mary and Ted are easy to listen to...
You won't go to sleep.
You will laugh.
You start and finish on time
-- every time.
You go home with a stack of
handouts so you don't have to take notes -- and you keep on
learning.
You get a follow-up exercise
-- personally evaluated by Mary or Ted -- worth double your
tuition for each class.

The 2-Day Intensive:
Our special seminar for writers who are (or
want to be) really serious.
Fiction, Nonfiction, Business of
Writing:
Friday evening to 2 PM Sunday
Every aspect of writing, from the moment you say, "I should
write about that," all the way through to the bylines,
accolades, and autograph signings.
One-day Workshops:
(may be combined for 2-day intensives)
Quick & Easy Plotting - 2 Hours: Kick your hero off a balcony,
then make sure he hits a dozen flagpoles on the way down. Learn
how to keep readers turning pages—guaranteed! And never be
without material for your next 100 plots!
Starting Your Novel:
Morning: Plot Analysis - 4 Hours: Discover the techniques of
story structure and character development while developing life
lines, back stories, time lines, sequence outlines, and plot
calendars.
Afternoon: Charismatic Characters - 4 Hours: Discover how to
create 3-Dimensional characters who take over your plot and make
your novel memorable (especially since series characters are
becoming essential for publication)
Mystery Novel Workshop: Dead Body on Page 1. Now What?
Takes the beginning or advanced writer from puzzle to
professional style needed to create a salable mystery/suspense/thriller. You'll get
a step-by-step guide to polishing your idea, creating authentic settings (which often operate like extra characters), plotting,
developing characters who leap off the page, while -- most important -- sustaining suspense.
Romance Novel Workshop: Lovers Quarrel on Page 1. Now What?
This workshop helps writers hone their technique for the highest
paying markets: Romance and Women's (and men are welcome, too).
Discover the stylistic touches that alert editors to your status
as a professional writer, not an amateur with stars in her eyes.
The Business of Writing: Only Ted Lynn can turn finance and
contracts into a day that keeps you laughing out loud while you
learn how to hang on to your money. You'll learn everything from
finding an agent, negotiating with editors, protecting your
rights, and how to avoid giving away your life in order to get
published. You'll understand why self-publishing may (or may
not) make sense. And you'll learn why you should toss away the
first contract you're offered (before it's too late).
Writing for
Business - 7 Hours: Make $20,000 to $100,000+ Writing
for Businesses. In this seminar, you will learn how to serve the
writing needs of local, regional, and national businesses, by
creating radio spots, display ads, articles for newspapers and
magazines, brochures & flyers, instruction manuals, and customer
newsletters. Then you’ll learn how to catch the eye of editors
for trade magazines who are always looking for new writers, and
who pay as well, or better, than many consumer periodicals.
You’ll write leads, conduct interviews, and learn how to
determine a magazine’s audience. Extensive handouts are included
to minimize the need to take copious notes.
Self-Publishing: Take charge of your writing! Ted
& Mary Lynn, who've been on both sides of the desk, give you the
straight scoop -- from setting up the business, to production,
marketing, editing, design, artwork, pricing, bar codes, and a
whole lot more. You'll follow the process from holding a
finished manuscript till you see a bound copy in the bookstore.
Copywriting for Websites: Web design gets your site up, but copy
draws visitors and sells products. Ask about a one-day workshop
with our associate Cathy Goodwin, Ph.D., business consultant and
copywriter. May be combined with other workshops.
One & two-hour
classes:
For writers conferences and group meetings. $250 per hour plus travel, room, and board.
